The primary goal of Philosophy is to understand the fundamental features and meanings of existence such as truth, knowledge, justice, value, freedom, human purpose, and the place of the mind in the natural order. The discussions about and the answers to such abstract questions are not always of practical value. Yet they are of lasting importance to human beings. It is the academic goal of the Philosophy Department at Yonsei University Wonju Campus to convey the most profound and systematic thoughts on these issues, past and present, to students at all levels. Philosophy is most invigorated when it interacts with other disciplines. Interdisciplinary work ¡© a traditional strength of the Yonsei community ¡© is a vital part of the Department and is reflected in its curriculum. Philosophy courses incorporate a wide range of other disciplines or individual sciences in it. Hence, students can investigate the various fields of Contemporary Philosophy such as the philosophies of Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Economics, Religion, Art, and the Ethics of Medicine. |
